Interactive World Geography Project

A free  user-friendly public domain interactive global map (data set) that pertains to and helps promote geographic and cultural literacy among and between nations/peoples; and, provides new spatial infrastructure tools for local applications.

What's Included: A base worldwide spatial dataset that provides basic country/city information and links to detailed information from Wikipedia, OpenStreetMap, U.S. State Department, and the CIA.  Users will need to download the base data and install it along with the free trial software provided by Global Mapper, LLC using the links provided on the World Geography Project main page.  If there is sufficient interest in the use of this data, it is likely that Global Mapper will create a special free version of the Global Mapper software for educational purposes.  Depending on the skill-level of the user, spatial data and special interest information and links can be added to the base dataset for individual or institutional use.

Examples of potential user inputs: Language translations of content, geo-caching, adding/correcting spatial data, tourism sites, YouTube video links, local imagery, school links, etc.
